My Future Goals
As of right now, I am studying to become a Public Relations Professional at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville located in southern Illinois. I just declared and I am majoring in Speech Communication, Public Relations track, and I am minoring in Sociology.
On the road to my dream, I was met with many obsticales. When I first came to SIUE, I had absolutely no idea of what I wanted to major or even where I wanted to end up with a future career. Let me tell you, SIUE is great at helping students find their calling, after all, this is what helped me to find where I am suppossed to be.
Upon arriving at SIUE, I signed up for many genderal education classes which is common for a freshman. I applied for a class called Interpersonal Communication 103 and another called Public Speaking 105. As soon as the classes kicked off, I knew that I loved communications classes and the more I thought about it, I realized that Speech Communication was the track for me.
Over the course of two years, I have fulfilled all of the Speech Communication course requirements, except for two. Speech Communication 414 and 415 are Senior assignment courses, which I plan to take next fall and the following spring semesters. As I stated previously, I plan to finish out my degree in three years and graduate in Spring 2015 with my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communication.
Following college, I hope to land a job working alongside a influential Public Relations firm. If this plan does not work out for some reason, I would love to work in the travel industry or even in the sports marketing business. Right now, I am the current Softball team manager for SIUE and with the skills I have developed being a part of the team, I hope to land a good job where I will interact with people on an everyday basis.
